Finding a cleaning service in Arizona is no easy task. With hundreds of different companies offering a plethora of services, it can seem daunting to search for the best cleaning company that will satisfy each and every one of your needs. In fact, simply entering the phrase "cleaning service in Arizona" in a Google search engine yields more than a million results!

It may seem like a no brainer to hire the very first cleaning service you come across. Besides, who has the time to sort through all those search results, browse through mundane websites, and read through dozens if not hundreds of sometimes conflicting customer reviews?

The fact that you have so many choices nowadays is exactly the very reason why you should not take the task of choosing a cleaning service or company lightly. How great would it be to have your first choice to be your absolute best choice, so that you never have to go through such a tedious research task again, or risk having an experience that will make you wish you had never hired anyone in the first place?

To make the search process easier for you, I've gathered a list of ten factors you should absolutely look for when choosing a cleaning service in Arizona. I've also included a downloadable worksheet that will help you tally off which cleaning services you find match these requirements so you can easily keep track of your research. Finding a service that meets these requirements will make it more likely to find a service you can remain loyal to for years to come.

1. Is Licensed, Bonded, and Insured

pexels-photo-261679.jpeg

Many state and local municipalities require that a cleaning company be licensed or registered as a business in order to legally conduct business within that region. Scottsdale, AZ is one example of a city that requires that all companies conducting business in the area to be registered. Working with a company that is licensed ensures that the business you're working with is adhering to state and city mandated laws, such as labor laws that codify employer obligations to their employees. By hiring a contractor that is not licensed with the state, you could potentially be held liable for violating a state or city regulation should a problem arise.

Ensuring the company or contractor you've hired is bonded and insured protects both you and the business from unexpected accidents, theft, or loss of property during a scheduled service. Did you know that if an uninsured worker is hurt in your home, the worker could file a claim against your homeowner's insurance company to cover medical expenses, or even file a lawsuit against you? You would then have to cover any increase in premiums as a result of the claim or be held legally liable.

Don't run the risk of having to pay out of pocket for unexpected losses, accidents, theft, or damage to your property. A company that is licensed, bonded, and insured will have this information clearly listed on their website or brochures. If it's not clear, reach out to them to ask before making a hiring decision.

2. .Com Domain or Online Presence

Why is it important that the cleaning service you choose have an online presence? Well, it has to do more with convenience than anything else. First of all, a company with a website ensures the company is legitimate. It allows you to browse the website to see whether the company is licensed and insured and what their location or contact information is. A company that is not legitimate will most likely not go through the trouble of building a website. A website can take weeks, months, and sometimes even years to build, and a website that's a scam is much easier to spot.

With so many companies offering competitive services and leveraging the power of technology, there's no reason why you should have to choose a cleaning company or contractor without an online presence. A company that has a dedicated website allows you to essentially conduct business with them 24/7, by looking up services and pricing, contacting them, reviewing features and benefits, and even booking online, all from the comfort of your home or right from your mobile device.

3. Trains and Background Checks Maids

A cleaning company should place an equal, if not heavier, emphasis on the quality of their services as they do on every other aspect of their business, and hiring experienced, trustworthy, and thoroughly trained maids is a necessity for a business that cares about delivering high quality cleaning services.

Hiring maids that have undergone a background check goes hand in hand with ensuring a company is bonded and insured. It's not easy to entrust your home to a stranger. Companies run background checks to check criminal records, education and employment history, civil records, references, and more. This way they know employees are who they say they are and have the experience they say they do.

Training new employees as opposed to sending maids straight out into the field should also be high on a cleaning company's priority list. No matter how many years experience maids say they may have, it's essential that they understand proper cleaning techniques for avoiding cross contamination, cleaning delicate surfaces such as granite and marble, cleaning nooks and crannies, properly disinfecting and removing harmful bacteria and germs, and paying careful attention to details.

4. Uses Eco-friendly Cleaning Products

According to a State of California Study, out of 2,435 pesticide poisonings in a one-year period, over 40% were due to disinfectants and similar cleaning products in the home. In addition, a 17 year study conducted by the Environmental Protection Agency found that women who work from home have a 54% higher death rate from cancer than women who work from outside the home (Source).

Protect yourself and your loved ones from harmful cleaning chemicals by always opting for non-toxic and eco-friendly cleaning products and services. These days, the price you pay for hiring a cleaning company that uses only eco-friendly products is comparable to the pricing charged by those companies who have not yet made the switch. Also, keep in mind that cleaning companies may say they use only eco-friendly products, but it's always best to make sure they're being honest by checking their website to see specifically what kinds of products they use or, better yet, by asking them directly.

5. Offers Member Perks To Repeat Customers

Isn't it nice to be rewarded for loyalty? After all, nowadays everyone offers membership and loyalty programs, from grocery stores, to book stores, to large retail stores, to everything in between. There's no reason why the cleaning company you hire shouldn't.

There are many cleaning services in Arizona that are starting to recognize the importance of customer loyalty and now offer discounts for repeat cleanings. For example, you may receive a 10-15% discount when you schedule monthly recurring cleanings.

However, the best companies out there offer more than a simple discount for recurring cleanings. Some perks to look out for are customer referral bonuses, birthday discounts, and freebies like free cleanings after a set number of purchases. Having a dedicated online account that allows you to make payments, review past purchases, and even download PDF files like invoices is also a huge bonus.

6. Offers Tech-friendly Services

Can you really afford to live without technology in this day and age? There are thousands of different technological tools and resources available to business owners, sometimes at little to no cost to them. If a cleaning company is skimping out on these free or low-cost tools, what else might they be skimping out on?

Look for a cleaning company that is tech-friendly to avoid headaches and frustrations with bookings. A tech-friendly service company will have a dedicated website as described in section 2 of this post and will incorporate other tech services such as a mobile friendly site, an online booking option with instant pricing, the ability to instantly chat with an online representative, and the option to cancel or reschedule an appointment directly from your mobile device or desktop.

7. Displays Pricing That's Easy To Understand

Remember the simple days when providing a cleaning quote consisted of calling your service company to schedule an in-person estimate, receiving a time window of 4-6 hours, waiting for 4-6 hours for your contractor to arrive at your home, then finally receiving an estimate only to have to reschedule with your contractor to actually complete the service at a later date? Well I sure don't, because those days were far from simple!

Many cleaning companies in Arizona still advertise "free in-person estimate" as a benefit, because it's "free". Nothing could be further from the truth, however. Providing in-person estimates is cumbersome to both the customer and the company. It involves a lot of unnecessary back and forth, wasted fuel and resources for the contractor providing the estimate, and it takes valuable hours away from your day.

Look for a cleaning company that has a dedicated page on it's website that displays their pricing in a way that's easy to understand. Some companies list pricing by the room, while others price by the hour or by the square footage of the home. In my opinion, pricing by the room is much more convenient. This way you don't pay more for a less experienced contractor who may take longer to clean, and it's much easier to remember how many rooms you want cleaned instead of trying to figure out the square footage of each room. Who has time for that?

8. Displays Customer Reviews On Their Website Or Has Reviews On A Popular Platform Like Yelp

In my opinion, a well-established and reputable cleaning business should have at least a few, if not more, customer reviews listed on either their website or one of the popular customer review platforms such as Yelp, Google Business, or Facebook. Take some time to look through some of these online platforms to get a general idea of what kind of experience other customers have had with the company.

Keep in mind, however, that customers are more likely to go out of their way and express their views on a popular online platform like Yelp when they're unsatisfied with a service they receive. You should, of course, keep an eye out for potential red flags, but it's a good idea to be a little more forgiving if you come across some reviews that may be biased or based on a one-off experience.

9. Provides a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee

cleaning-service-satisfaction-guarantee

If a company is confident in the quality of the service they provide, then they should run little to no risk offering a 100% satisfaction guarantee to its customers. Some cleaning companies offer a satisfaction guarantee by offering to reclean your home if you're unsatisfied with the service the first time around, but I think that's rubbish.

Let's say a laundry detergent you purchased advertised a 100% satisfaction guarantee and, after using it, you found that it discolored all of your fabrics. Would you really be enthused by the prospect of having the company mail you the exact same laundry detergent at no cost to you? I would assume you would never use that same laundry detergent ever again and would much rather have your money back!

When a cleaning service advertises a 100% satisfaction guarantee, make sure they offer a full refund of your services and not just a reclean. Why would you want to let someone back into your home when they didn't do a well enough job the first time around? Cleaning services that advertise a true 100% satisfaction guarantee hardly ever receive customer requests for refunds because they work hard to ensure their service is meticulously completed the first time around, and it offers you peace of mind as a customer knowing that your money will be put to good use.

10. Highly Responsive To Its Customers

cleaning-service-customer-service

Let's run through a hypothetical scenario.

You just hired a cleaning company. They're scheduled to arrive at your home by 12pm that day. However, you've been called into an emergency meeting at work that may run past 12pm, so no one will be home to let the contractor inside the home. You have a spare key hidden somewhere so you decide to call the company to let them know you won't be home and to give them instructions on accessing the property.

However, when you call you're placed on a 10 minute hold. Then, after finally reaching an operator, you're told they'll leave your contractor a message but they can't guarantee your contractor will receive the message on time since they're most likely on their way to the property already. Worst of all, if the contractor is unable to access the property for any reason, you'll be charged a $50 cancellation fee. What a headache!

The cleaning service you contract should have several options for you to not only reach the company about any issue that comes up, but should also be immediately responsive to your attempts to contact them. If you're running late, is there a way to directly contact your contractor to let them know how to access the property? How long does it take to get a representative on the phone? Does the company frequently offer same-day booking, or do you have to book days or weeks in advance because they have little to no availability? There are many companies out there that make customer service their top priority, so make sure you're taking all these factors into consideration when choosing a cleaning company.

You have literally hundreds of choices when it comes to choosing a cleaning service in Arizona, and that's why its easier than ever find a company that has all the requirements listed in this article. ViriClean, of course, is one of those companies. But I'd love to hear your thoughts! Are there any other factors you look for or would like to see a cleaning company incorporate in their services? Let me know down below!
